A. is an incredibly rich and immersive documentary that both educates and entertains on its subject matter. As a teenager I used to really like M. A.'s music, her music videos too used to hit me really hard.
Now I want to sit back and just listen to a playlist of her songs again. A.' It's hardly unusual for commercially successful pop musicians to engage in political activism. A. is far more interested in what the music stands for. The amalgamation of their viewpoints gives "Matangi/Maya/M. A." its unpredictable and at times, admittedly exasperating nature. A. in an intimate context perceived not only by herself, but also by her close friend, who complements Arulpragasam's candid, camera-facing. 'Matangi/Maya/M.
